Mission Chapels and Churches

Early in the life of the new church, a mission was sponsored in Lincroft, New Jersey. That mission later became Monmouth Baptist Church and was constituted as a church on September 17, 1964.

The second mission RVBC sponsored became East Brunswick Baptist Church, constituted on June 20, 1979 and is an active church under the leadership of Rev. George White.

Sponsorship of the Somerset Baptist Chapel, an African-American congregation, was approved in February, 1979. This group grew rapidly, purchased and remodeled a building and was constituted as Somerset Baptist Church in 1984. They are a thriving church under the leadership of Rev. Ernesto Robinson.

We currently share our building with the First Chinese Baptist Church of New Jersey, under the leadership of Pastor Teck-Aun Lau (Chinese-speaking pastor) and Rev. Darrell McClean (English-speaking pastor). Dr. Louis Ao of Nagaland, India and Fort Worth Texas began work among the Asian-Indian population in our area. Grace Community Fellowship meets in our building.

Mission Projects

Two of our former youth are Southern Baptist preachers.

Many of our past members and pastoral interns are in full-time Christian service.

Following the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, our church became the staging site for hundreds of arriving Southern Baptist disaster relief workers and for truckloads of supplies and equipment to set up kitchens and showers from all over the country. A radio station for direct communication with New York disaster relief headquarters was set up in our yard.

RVBC supports an ecumenical mission/food distribution program (FISH).

RVBC conducts Vacation Bible School each summer.
