The CONTINUING SPIRIT OF RVBC
Just as God leads his sheep into paths of righteousness and through dark alleys, He has prepared and given RVBC a sweet tableland where we can be fed. This is an intimate church home that God has developed into a diverse, inter-cultural body. And yet, within this small group one can find vibrant, growing ministries. There is a dynamic collection of God’s gifts at work “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ.” But most importantly, God’s spirit has bound this body in a natural desire to love one another.
Continuing ministries such as our Wednesday night Bible study help to develop our knowledge of God’s Word, bind the body together, and promote the general spiritual welfare of the congregation. Additionally, ministries such as the WMU and FISH continue to show the loving heart of Jesus to the people around us. RVBC has also begun new ministries designed to unite our church while opening wide our doors to our neighbors. New programs such as the Sojourner’s Purls Knitting Guild are designed to be an inviting, intimate place for church members and people from the community to socialize. But, more than this, we have an impact both through service projects and direct ministry to the non-Christians members of this group. Our new Youth Outreach Program works to teach the youth of our church, but more importantly, it open wide the doors of our church to young people, saved and unsaved, in our community. These ministries converge in our Sunday worship services where we see a wide-ranging population, continuing to join. As new members have come, we have seen new growth in the music ministry, and both the Adult and Youth Sunday School. God is bringing in his sheep from different fields and valleys to this small table. This table is drenched in the oil of his spirit as he unifies his flock while continuing to draw new sheep. RVBC is growing as stray sheep find a home and more importantly, as God brings new sheep into the fold of salvation. This is a place uniting people under the banner of God’s love. |
